Twitter had previously announced that it is planning the ultimate crypto integration to facilitate Bitcoin payments. According to information provided by TheBlock, Twitter appears to be testing the inclusion of Bitcoin's tipping feature on the Lightning Network.
A recently leaked Twitter beta image by mobile developer Alessandro Paluzzi appears to have reinstated Bitcoin's inclusion in Twitter's tipping service. This image makes it clear that Twitter's upcoming BTC tipping service is currently in test net mode.
The report also mentions the use of the Lightning Network to make smaller Bitcoin payments. Also, this integration will be built to retrieve both custodial and non-custodial wallets.
The reports mention the content of Bitcoin Lightning App Strike, which will facilitate the creation of Bitcoin invoices. Now, Twitter users will need to create a Strike account if they want to use the BTC tipping service.
Dorsey said in July that Bitcoin Twitter integration could happen.
“If the internet has a local currency and a global currency, we can move much faster with products like Super Follows, Commerce, Subscriptions, Tip Jar. We can reach every single person on the planet. I think this is a big part of our future. I think there is a lot of innovation beyond the currency to have, especially when we consider more centralizing social media and providing more economic stimulus.”
Jack Dorsey also emphasized that investing aggressively in this space is extremely important to Twitter and its stakeholders.
