According to the information received from CoinDesk, the world-famous bank Citigroup has started to recruit traders to activate Bitcoin futures.
The other information provided is that Citi is reportedly looking to start trading Bitcoin futures contracts on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. According to CoinDesk, significant regulatory approvals are now awaited for a London-based crypto trading desk.
Another source told CoinDesk that Citi's trading operation could begin with BTC futures before moving on to other products such as bitcoin-traded bonds.
A Citi spokesperson told CoinDesk:
“We are currently considering products such as futures for some of our institutional clients because they operate under strong regulatory frameworks. Given the many questions about regulatory frameworks, audit expectations, and other factors, we are very considerate of our approach.”
