According to a survey by the University of Central America, many of the people of El Salvador said they were unaware of how to use the digital currency and did not trust the project.
According to the survey, at least 67.9% of 1,281 people surveyed were against the use of bitcoin as a legal currency. Also, just over 32% of people agreed to some extent.
Another result of the survey conducted in August is that 90% of people do not have a clear understanding of bitcoin. While 80% of the respondents expressed little or no confidence in its use, according to 70% of the legislators, the Bitcoin law should be repealed.
UCA dean Andreu Oliva said:
“In addition to this massive rejection of the implementation of bitcoin as legal money, which we can see in this survey, we have for the first time found substantial disagreement between the population and resolutions made by the Legislature and the president.”
